Beginning Yoga Poses for Those with Scoliosis


Tree Pose


The tree pose is another standing asana that benefits your spine, abdominal muscles, and equilibrium. It also aids in relaxation and stress management. Raise the right foot and rest the bottom of the shoe on the outside of the left thigh. The calf is an excellent alternative to the thigh if you can't reach your thigh. Tuck your pelvis in and point your tailbone down. Raise your right foot so that the bottom of your shoe rests on the inside of your left thigh. Cat/cow position


This position stretches the muscles and tendons that support your spine and widens the gaps between your vertebrae. As you let your breath out, tuck your tailbone, relax your neck, and let your head hang low and around your spine.


Infant Position


It is the next most excellent stance for unwinding and avoiding Scoliosis Surgeries. It would help if you started by sitting back on your heels. Extend your limbs in front of you. Put your chest down towards your knees and lean forward until your upper body is bent like a frog. Keep reaching forward with your arms until you feel a good stretch (and no pain). Mountain Pose


It is an excellent starting position for a yoga session. It's a mountain position, so you have to stand tall and solid like a mountain, and it helps with balance and core strength. Connect your big toes and spread your heels (inverted V shape) as you stand. Let your shoulders drop, and your arms dangle at your sides. You should close your eyes and picture yourself with your feet planted on the earth.
